WHERE RELATING FINDS ITS HOME
Generally we 'see' people or allow them in to different parts of our house. Some we entertain in the lounge where we might be spruced and neatly tidy so that a good impression is created and maintained. Others might be welcome in the kitchen where they will see more of our lived process. Are there rooms where people would not be welcome? Looking at different rooms gives us pictures of the spaces we create for our relationships. We are not always aware of these spaces or of how they shape and fill our different friendships. We may well ask; what is there in our relational space that welcomes and holds the other and what is there that holds them at a distance? In the session Sergio lead us through two meditations, one of which got us to explore our personal space as if it was a cottage with many different rooms. What did it look like? What did it feel like? What furniture was in it? Each room signified a different part of our lives. These practical exercises bought this topic to life and many mentioned that they left with a far deeper awareness of where they were and the invitation to risk doing things differently.
