Restoring Male Spirituality in the Family, Church and Society with Richard Rohr
A workshop for everyone on engaging and developing masculine spirituality.
Male spirituality affects all of us, whether we are male or female. We all have fathers, many of us have brothers or sons. We all relate to men on various levels, and all of us are invested in societies that are largely male dominated.
In order for male spirituality to find its rightful place in society and to become transformative and healing of social relationships, it needs to be understood and embraced by men and women alike.
Many men have been pulled off balance by roles and functions and find it difficult to know how to live authentically and from their centre. As major shapers of life, the state of the male soul affects our families and society profoundly.
Women too often find themselves dealing with male dysfunction in relationships. It may be dealing with their own fathering or with raising children on their own, in community settings or in the societies they are part of.
Community and church leaders who have the task of working with men often find them more difficult to manage than women, who are more able to work together for the common good.
Mothers and teachers who have the task of forming the male soul in growing boys need to understand some of the issues relevant to this demanding task.
So, this workshop is for men and women, community leaders, pastors: and anyone who has any investment in human spirituality and needs to understand and develop the masculine side.
Richard Rohr is an exceptional speaker and retreat director and has taught and guided retreats around the world for the past 30 years.
As an activist in Contemplative spirituality and how it needs to be the basis of all action, he brings a wealth of experience to the everyday issues we face as men and women.
He has worked extensively on the differences and interplay between male and female spirituality and particularly on how male spirituality has become impoverished to the detriment of our communal well-being.
