A Mentoring Journey with Richard Rohr Facilitated by Sergio Milandri

We meet every Monday at 7:45 pm for 8:00 pm at "Sans Pareil" in Hout Bay.
Please note, this series of workshops is for both women and men.

Men are a pivotal influence in our family and society. As men we affect many people on significant levels. (Statistics suggest over 10,000 through our lives!) Are we aware of the effect we are having on people and are we willing to deepen our awareness and skills in connecting with them?

Our meaning as men depends on the quality of our relation-ships. Are we growing in our ability to give life to others or are we complacently using them to stay as we are? As men we shape identity in children. Are we involved with child-rearing or do we forsake our part and leave it to women? Young men are losing control because older men are absent.

As men we shape and determine the structure of life. Do we pioneer new life as it is unfolding around us or do we simply live on old familiar patterns?

As men we guide the unfolding of life and make it safe. Do we do this by talking and telling or by living it? We need to risk living a transforming life.

Our society is dying in many ways due to lack of life-giving role models. Can we as men be a non-anxious presence, going ahead and making this scary world a safe place to live in?

The young idealise life to escape its painful reality. As men do we carry our joy and pain without pretense or do we bury and deny our pain and leave society to fear pain and failure?A Way to Do This...

Richard Rohr to Visit in May of 2010. He has profound insight and wisdom on the human condition and on where it is headed. He will facilitate experiences to engage our male soul and help us to be multipliers of our rich gifting as men.

Preparing for Richard’s VisitMeet in weekly groups. We are organising groups to engage these long overdue conversations about our manhood and the profound influence we have or - don’t have - on those around us. If you want to know more or are able to join or form a group please contact us.

Asking the right questions. The better our questions the more profound the possibilities that will emerge. We need courage as we meet to ask tough questions of ourselves and of our patterns of living.

Materials for group engagement.
Materials drawn from Richard’s work will be provided to stimulate our conversations and to maintain direction in the groups so that when he comes we will have the mutual support and focus to work on the relevant questions relating to our manhood. We each need to commit to meeting weekly to get a taste of the issues we are engaging and to bring our own unique perspectives to bear.
Through this all we hope to: Renew our calling as men to play our significant part in giving our society life. We anticipate healthy perspectives and transforming relationships to come out of this process.
