Risking Manhood - Risking Womanhood

“I was able to visit painful places from the past in a powerful way without being overwhelmed or “getting stuck” there – finding a way forward to a positive future with so much less baggage!”
                                                  course participant 2007

WHAT IS THE COURSE ABOUT?
This 8 week course looks at the seven risks we need to face in order to risk stepping out of our past and into our present.

The course material revolves around personal and family stories, for it is here that the seeds of our formation and transformation are found. Men and women attending need to be willing to face their inner issues and fears.

1st Risk: Separating emotionally from mother. Like birth, the biggest risk of              our lives.
2nd Risk: Entering and leaving our peer relationships
3rd Risk: Grounding the idealism of our youth
4th Risk: Facing our father. He formed our identity in the world. Who is he              and how does he still hold us?
5th Risk: Being Role-Free: Social structures and instituitions dictate many              of the roles that bind us
6th Risk: Can our material self serve our relationships?
7th Risk: To give ourselves. To give life, to nurture and sustain it, that is              the purpose of being.

“ It was so valuable for me to discover that where I am in life, my experiences, and my reality is quite normal (for a 40 yr old male)”
